Christmas Project offers better future for pets

One hundred per cent of proceeds in NSW will go to Lucy's Project

Christmas is a time for giving, but it can also be a difficult time of year for people in hardship, particularly for people and their pets experiencing domestic violence.

Often, even more financial strain, loneliness and increased anxiety is reported over the Christmas period.

This is why the Petstock Foundation is giving the most magical gift of all this Christmas – a better future for pets and people in need through its fundraising initiative, The Christmas Project.

One hundred per cent of proceeds raised by Petstock Erina in NSW during November and December will be donated to NSW-based charity organisation, Lucy’s Project.

The Petstock Foundation is aiming to raise $827,000 nationally during November and December for not only Lucy’s Project but a number of other charity partners including Guide Dogs Australia and Assistance Dogs Australia, Smart Pups, Lort Smith Animal Therapy Program, Dogs for First Responders and Story Dogs.

Lucy’s Project, a NSW-based charity, aims to improve the safety of people and animals experiencing domestic and family violence through collaboration, advocacy, research and education (CARE).

Funds will be used to promote a co-ordinated response to people with animals experiencing violence, to advocate for policy, program, and legal change to improve the safety of people and animals experiencing violence, to promote research on the issues faced by people and animals experiencing domestic and family violence, to develop evidence-based solutions, and to educate services and workers to increase their capacity and capability to support people and animals experiencing violence.

The Petstock Foundation is encouraging Erina residents to purchase a Petstock Christmas bauble or Petstock Foundation product in-store or online, knowing 100 per cent of proceeds will go towards the initiative.

Funds raised from the Christmas Project will enable charities to provide the gifts of sight, confidence, independence and empowerment for people who need it the most.

“We know Christmas can be a difficult time for the most vulnerable in our community, with many people experiencing even more financial strain, loneliness and increased anxiety during this time,” Petstock Foundation head Jessica Curtis said.

“At the Petstock Foundation, we understand the magic that pets and animals can bring to our lives and our aim is to strengthen the rewarding bond between pets a people.

“This Christmas, we are asking our NSW community to give the gift of a better future for those in need.”
