Charged over carjacking

A man has been charged after an alleged carjacking at Budgewoi on Saturday, December 28.

At about 4:30pm yesterday, a 27-year-old man was driving a white Mazda BT50 on Budgewoi Rd when he noticed a blue Toyota Corolla allegedly following him.

The man pulled over and the Corolla stopped in front of him.

Two men exited the Corolla with one allegedly carrying a large knife.

The 27-year-old man was threatened with the knife before one of the men allegedly drove from the scene in the man’s car.

Police patrolling the vicinity found the stolen vehicle abandoned on Elizabeth Dr, Noraville, and shortly after found a 21-year-old man in Gomul St, Noraville.

A search of the man found a large Bowie style knife in the front of his pants along with the wallet and personal cards belonging to the victim.

The 21-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with: robbery armed with offensive weapon; and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (second offence).

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on December 29.
