Police have issued a reminder to “ride to survive” this holiday period following the apprehension of a motorcyclist travelling at 193km/h in a 70km/h zone.
Brisbane Water Highway Patrol detected the rider at about 6:40pm on Saturday, December 14, while they were conducting speed enforcement on the Old Pacific Hwy at Somersby.
A BMW S1000 motorcycle was detected travelling at 193Km/h in a 70Km/h signposted area.
The rider, who holds an overseas driver’s licence, was subsequently charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and driving at a speed dangerous to the public.
The rider’s NSW driving privileges were immediately withdrawn, and the motorcycle’s registration plates have been confiscated for three months.
The matter will be heard at Gosford Local Court in January 2025.
