A footpath for Pozieres Ave

Member for Robertson Gordon Reid walks along Pozieres Ave

Construction of a footpath along Pozieres Ave at Umina Beach has commenced and is nearing completion, with the Federal Government providing $425,000 for the project.

Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid said unsafe pedestrian conditions along Pozieres Ave were a major concern for residents leading up to the 2022 election.

“I made a commitment that I would advocate on behalf of residents and secure Commonwealth funding for a footpath,” he said.

“I am pleased to see that the funding that I was able to secure is now being utilised by Central Coast Council to construct a footpath along Pozieres Ave.

“This footpath will improve pedestrian accessibility and allow residents to walk safely to Ocean Beach Rd or Lone Pine Plaza.

“I will continue to be a strong advocate for the Peninsula and for increased infrastructure funding.”

  1. These political puff pieces are always fascinating tests of the use of taxpayer money. Pozieres Avenue is approximately 400m in length, so about $1,000 per meter paved which is extraordinary given the cost of raw materials is about 25% of this. Perhaps more staggering is that this will largely only be used by very local residents. 54 dwellings on Poziers Avenue, so approx $80k per household. Perhaps the next property develop to split a block of land into townhouses should be required to fund these civic upgrades.

  2. Well done Gordon. I live in a street without a footpath and often see mothers with prams actually walking on the road to avoid the grass.
