Central Coast commuters and rail travellers can heave a sigh of relief with the train strike planned for Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23, cancelled at the 11th hour.
On Thursday, November 21. the Rail, Tram, and Bus Union agreed to an interim deal and will not proceed with planned Industrial Actions.
A resolution was reached between the NSW Government, Sydney Trains, NSW Trains and the Combined Rail Unions.
As part of the interim deal Sydney Trains has committed to running as many 24-hour services as possible this weekend, while continuing essential trackwork.
The Combined Rail Unions have agreed not to apply all 109 of their active bans.
A two-week period of intensive bargaining will now take place between Sydney Trains, NSW Trains and the Combined Rail Unions as they look for an outcome to bring certainty to staff and rail passengers.
The 24-hour train services will be advised once operational plans are confirmed.
As contingency plans were well under way for the heavy rail network to be non-operational, Transport for NSW will continue to offer supplementary transport options for the rest of the weekend as well as timetabled and special event services rail services.
Passengers are still encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by visiting transportnsw.info/alerts or using trip planning apps.
