Oasis Youth Services at Wyong has received $16,322 through the State Government’s Community Building Partnership program.
Regional Manager Robyn Bust said the grant would be used to help replace existing fluorescent light fittings with LED lights and to replace the community kitchen rangehood.
Oasis community kitchen is a gateway to employment for young people as food and beverage attendants, coffee machine operators, kitchenhands, as well as building skills in customer service, preparation and teamwork.
Minister for Central Coast and Member for Wyong David Harris visited recently for a tour around the property, which includes the popular for Oasis Café.
“It is important to sustain organisations like Oasis at Wyong, which supports young people with services such as case management, school programs, counselling, employment opportunities, courses, social activities, Drive for Life program, welfare support and Community Shop,” Harris said.
The Community Building Partnership is an opportunity for organisations to engage and support their specific requirements to build, refurbish or repair community infrastructure, or to buy freestanding equipment or vehicles.
“I encourage not-for-profit organisations to apply for future Community Building Partnership grants,” Harris said.
