The Woytopia sustainable living festival is back again on Sunday 13 October.
The festival features live music, talks and children’s entertainment, plenty of food options and an eco-market of stalls selling everything from jewellery to natural bodycare.
Headlining is Ruby Archer, who last year won Triple J’s 15 Years of Unearthed High, with dynamic and emotionally compelling songs that take in everything from jazz to punk.
The Cat Snatchers take you back to a 70s and 80s of stadium-style anthems and yacht rock vibe, while Goblet and Peninsula favourites Turtle Custard blend funky grooves and psych-rock.
“Woytopia is a green living festival that’s not just for greenies,” event manager Julian Bowker says.
“There’s music, food stalls, free yoga and more.
“And we always make sure there’s plenty of free kids activities and entertainment so it’s a fun and affordable day out for families.
Those children’s activities include circus shows and a circus skills play space by Roundabout Circus, and a roving “silent disco” with games and prizes.
All-day activities include old-fashioned games on the playing field, and storytime and an under-5s play space for younger kids.
There are Indian dancing, kids yoga sessions and creative art fun, plus native animals shows from Australian Wildlife Displays.
“It’s a great way to freshen up your wardrobe for free, while keeping clothes out of landfill,” Bowker said.
“If you want to take part, just bring along up to six items of good quality clothing. You can drop them off when you arrive, then the swapping begins at 11.30am.
Food stalls include The Big Paella, The Honest Chef (dumplings), Viet Yum and Woytopia’s own eco-BBQ and more, with plenty of vegan and veggie choices.
