Why all the angst about PM?

Readers' forum letters

I do not understand the angst in some sections of the media – mostly conservative – about the Prime Minister buying a new house.

Surely he is entitled to spend his money any way he wants with no public funds involved, and provide for his retirement?

Mind you, I hope that real estate agents get a good grasp of geography.

It would be rather difficult for Albo to observe “spectacular sunsets” from Copacabana as reported in CCN 460.

it’s the optics of a whole generation being locked out of the housing market due to increased cost, one of few things to help it will be to amend the negative gearing laws but they won’t do it and it comes across as the reason they won’t do it as most of the MPs have investment properties.

this isn’t him just buying a house it’s a 4 million dollar beachfront property, it’s hard to be seen as a leader for the people when that’s what he’s buying when mothers can’t afford groceries.

He has a right to buy a house but it’s just really really really bad timing and makes it look like he’s disconnected to those in the thick of the financial crises.
