Familiar names on council

letters 3Letters to the editor

Democracy has returned to our local government area but sadly I see familiar names elected that are symbolic of past failures, excesses and misbehaviour.

Joe Public is renowned for having a short memory, but in this case, I think it is not the lack of memory but the indifference to the situation that has resulted in the return of some of the new councillors and the passing of the referendum.

If things go pear-shaped again I hope that voters accept their responsibility in the situation.

If things dramatically improve I am sure they will claim credit.

Human nature will prevail.

  1. It beggars belief that the people of the central coast would re-elect former councillors back into office. I sincerely hope we will not be asked if we want a Chinese Temple or be confronted with ” DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?’ I have heard it said Australia was built on the back of a sheep, ,I think with the result of the election we have proved we are sheep.Disgusted reader.

    • Too true.
Some of the now returned and disgraced councillors had no remorse or regret for their appalling past performances and were combative when faced with criticism. Belinda Neal was such an embarrassment while mascarading as a federal MP that she was instructed by Rudd to take a back seat and ride her term out as silently as possible.
Not optimistic about the coasts future with this lot running the show.
