Boost for two tennis clubs

Two Central Coast sporting clubs are set to benefit from the Tennis NSW Facility Enhancement Fund.

Avoca Beach Tennis Club will receive $50,000 towards the $209,000 cost of reconstructing and resurfacing its courts, while Maidens Brush club at Wyoming has been granted $32,000 to help with its $64,000 lighting upgrade and integrated court access solution.

They are two of 22 clubs statewide to share in $500,000 of funding in the inaugural round of grants.

The funding will support $2.018M in facility improvement projects featuring LED lighting upgrades, access and lighting control systems, clubhouse and amenity refurbishment, accessibility and shelters, court upgrades, irrigation and more.

The Tennis NSW Facility Enhancement Fund is for small to medium facility upgrades or enhancements, typically between $10,000 and $250,000 in value.

Successful applicants demonstrated how their projects would: increase the number of participants; improve the participant experience; enhance venue sustainability; address barriers to participation; and/or create/improve pathways for performance and competitive play.

President Melissa Achten said Tennis NSW had invested significantly in grassroots tennis facilities across the state in the past five years.

“This injection into our network of venues has now leveraged in excess of $35M in critical legacy infrastructure for the sport, working to address strategic outcomes identified in the Tennis NSW State Infrastructure Investment Strategy,” she said.

“We are delighted that we can continue to directly invest into tennis venues in NSW through the Facility Enhancement Fund and look forward to this being a regular funding opportunity for Tennis NSW members.”

Tennis NSW continues to support its members to plan and implement a more resilient and sustainable network of venues and tennis delivery models through its approach to Project and Investment Readiness – with a wealth of resources and assistance available.
