A new animal studies building is currently under construction at the Wyong TAFE campus.
Member for Wyong David Harris said the project involved demolition of existing structures and constructing of a new larger building, which had been specifically designed to better support industry training and learner experience.
“The new Animal Studies building will provide three animal teaching rooms, grooming and hydro-bathing, laundry, wet lab, surgery lab, practical lab, simulated imaging, aviaries, poultry pens, kennels, dog running yard, two classrooms, store, student amenities, meeting room, and teacher workspaces,” he said.
“It will provide a contemporary learning environment, equipped with areas, spaces and equipment that are appropriately provisioned and capable of accommodating long-term skills capability requirements, enrolment growth and animal welfare.
“Construction works are well underway, with the structural steel and roof of the main building complete.”
Harris said the building would be completed to lock-up stage by August, with external cladding, doors and windows installed.
The new building will see consolidation of courses on the Central Coast to deliver all animal studies courses from one single campus at Wyong either face-to-face or via connected delivery.
The NSW Government is investing $5.4M to upgrade Wyong campus infrastructure and improve digital connectivity.
The new Animal Studies building at the Porter St site is due for completion late this year.
