Chinese international Wurigumula will leave the Central Coast Mariners to return to her parent club Changchun Dazhong WFC at the end of her loan deal.
One of the club’s major signings at the beginning of its return campaign to the Liberty A-League, Wurigumula became an immediate fan favourite, sealing the first win of the campaign against Adelaide United with her first goal in yellow and navy.
From then, the Chinese international was a consistent presence up front, scoring eight goals in the 2023/24 season, including a Goal of the Year contender away to Canberra United.
This was enough to see her be awarded with the Golden Boot at the Mariners Medal Dinner, while she also collected the Maccas’ Fan’s Player of the Year.
The 28-year-old scored her penalty in the historic penalty shootout elimination final win in Melbourne, ultimately playing 25 times for the Mariners.
She returns to the Chinese Women’s Super League with Changchun Dazhong WFC, now that her loan deal has concluded.
Central Coast Mariners head coach Emily Husband thanked Wurigumula for her time with the Mariners, wishing her the best as she returns to her parent club.
“Wurigumula played an important role in our first season back, scoring crucial goals that helped us achieve what we did. Not only did she help us greatly on the pitch, but she was also an incredible person off it,” Husband said.
“Everyone at the Mariners thanks Wurigumula for her contributions during our return season and wish her the very best as she returns to the Chinese Women’s Super League.”
