Water outage at Avoca

Essential maintenance will interrupt water supply at Avoca

Central Coast Council will be carrying out essential water network upgrades in the Avoca Lagoon area on Thursday, August 29.

A water outage will commence at about 5am, with water service expected to be restored by early evening if the works proceed as scheduled.

Residents are advised to collect enough water to meet their consumption and hygiene needs before the interruption begins.

Water can be stored in jugs, buckets and bathtubs.

Toilets can be flushed by tipping water from a bucket into the bowl during this time.

It is important that all internal taps are closed.

After restoration of supply, residents are advised to run the front tap (generally located near the water meter serving your property) until water becomes clear.

Internal taps should then be checked for water quality prior to use.

These steps are particularly important to carry out before using any hot water services, washing machines, dishwashers or other water-using devices.

The upgrades are part of the ongoing installation of a new trunk main that travels under Avoca Lagoon.

This is the first of two planned water outages, with the second scheduled for later this year.

The work is crucial to improving the water infrastructure in the area, ensuring that the local water service is reliable and capable of meeting future demands.

An alternative water supply will be provided for residents to fill their own bottles and buckets at Kiana St North Avoca.
