Two teenage boys have been charged to face a children’s court hearing over 27 combined alleged driving and property offences.
At about 3am on Sunday, August 18, police were called to a shopping centre at Erina following reports of a break and enter.
At the scene police were told that several teenagers allegedly arrived at the centre in a stolen SUV before smashing the windscreen of a parked car and stealing from a number of businesses within the centre.
The group then allegedly travelled to a shopping centre at Bateau Bay where several kiosks and food outlets were allegedly ransacked.
Early morning on Thursday, August 22, a number of similar offences allegedly occurred at the same two shopping centres.
Following extensive inquiries police executed two search warrants at homes in Bateau Bay and Killarney Vale on Thursday, August 22.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the Bateau Bay home and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences.
He will face a children’s court for seven counts of enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence; three counts of destroy or damage property; two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner; carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; aggravated break and enter with intent; and breach of bail.
A second 15-year-old boy was arrested at a Killarney Vale home and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences.
He also will appear at a children’s court hearing on seven counts of enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence; three counts of carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; and two counts of aggravated break and enter with intent.
Both boys were refused bail before their court appearance.
Tuggerah Lakes Police are continuing inquiries into the incidents.
