Two people faced court on Tuesday, July 30, after stolen property was found in a car during a random drug and alcohol testing operation.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting high visibility patrols of the Ourimbah area, when they stopped a vehicle on the M1 Motorway for random testing.
The driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.
The test will go for further forensic examination.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized up to 200 allegedly stolen items inside the vehicle’s dashboard, including antique jewellery, gemstones, watches and smelted precious metals.
The alleged total value is believed to be more than $100,000.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, and his passenger, a 32-year-old woman, were arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station.
The man was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence.
