The Lake Macquarie unit was the busiest of the Services’ 46 units across the state, with 38 search and rescue missions in July.
The Central Coast unit, based at Point Clare, recorded 15 callouts, followed closely by Port Stephens with 14.
The Point Clare based unit will be conducting boat licence courses (theory) this Saturday, August 17.
If you’d like to book yourself or a family member into the course, call the Marine Rescue base on 4337 9600.
Marine Rescue Central Coast Unit Commander Ian Morrow encouraged all skippers to make Logging On with Marine Rescue NSW part of their pre-launch routine.
With a spike in grounding incidences, Morrow said boaters needed to be aware of the tides, the environment and the conditions to avoid grounding their vessel and potentially ending up in an emergency situation.
