Ausgrid aerial patrols

Low flying helicopters could be seen over the Central Coast

Ausgrid will be conducting aerial patrols as part of its bushfire prevention program in the Central Coast region from Tuesday, September, 3 to Friday, September 6.

The helicopter crew will be using an infrared camera to inspect powerlines, poles and other equipment in bushfire-prone areas.

They will typically be in the air no earlier than one hour after sunrise and no later than one hour before sunset (weather permitting).

The helicopters fly at speeds between 90 and 170 km/h and between 100m-300m above the ground.

Rural property owners should consider securing livestock as patrols need to fly low at times and this could startle horses and livestock.
