Member for Robertson Gordon Reid has welcomed a new grants program aimed at increasing cyber literacy for those most at risk of being impacted by cyber crime.
The Federal Government has opened the application process for the Cyber Awareness – Support for Vulnerable Groups Grants Program which will provide $9.6M for the provision of programs for members of the community at a higher risk of being impacted.
These groups include remote and regional communities, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, First Nations communities, young people, seniors, people with disability and neurodiverse people.
Empowering these groups to tailor programs individually means that vital information about cyber security will be communicated in the most useful way possible, Reid said.
“It is essential for our goal of becoming a world leader in cyber security by 2030 to lift the standard of awareness and cyber safety across the country, and in particular in these vulnerable communities,” he said.
“The Federal Labor Government is committed to improving cyber literacy across our community.
“I strongly encourage eligible organisations on the Central Coast to apply for funding.”
The grants program sits alongside work the government is doing to harden cyber defences across business and government and for individual citizens.
Cyber security is a huge and rapidly evolving challenge.
