Playing conditions at Woy Woy Tennis Club are set for a boost, with the club securing $40,000 in Community Building Partnership (CBP) Program funding from the NSW Government to upgrade its lighting.
Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch MP said the investment in infrastructure for the tennis club aligned with the goals of the Community Building Partnership Program, helping to deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.
“This grant funding is a piece of good news for passionate regulars at Woy Woy Tennis Club who play on the Peninsula, as well as club visitors and spectators,” she said.
“Good lighting makes a genuine difference to a game, when it comes to seeing the ball, the lines and improving the overall game experience.”
Woy Woy Tennis President Walter Pearson warmly welcomed the upgrade to the club’s ageing and outdated lighting system.
“This will lower our power bills and improve playing conditions for those who use the court,” Pearson said.
“But more importantly, it will reduce our carbon footprint which we believe is a benefit to the community as a whole in the important fight to mitigate climate change.”
Successful recipients of the 2023 Community Building Partnership program in the Gosford electorate have included equipment upgrades at sporting facilities, equipment modernisation at community activity hubs, training and equipment for counsellors, play space upgrades and many others.
The Community Building Partnerships Program has funded more than 19,700 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
