It is pleasing to see that Transport for NSW is getting on with the job of delivering the $130M upgrades to Avoca Dr through Kincumber.
While some minor upgrades were already made in 2023, including the resurfacing of road between Bungoona Rd and Tilba St, Avoca Dr remains in desperate need of widening up until Joalah Rd.
This is a significant bottleneck for motorists – particularly on weekdays, with Kincumber High School and Kincumber Primary School both finishing between 2.30pm and 3pm.
Improved footpaths, as well as kerb and guttering to prevent flooding, are also needed to assist the many local children and families who walk to school.
Sometimes progress is progress in itself.
While this latest announcement is only to say that a consultation period has opened, it is a step in the right direction to getting shovels in the ground.
It is also an appropriate way to make sure the needs and concerns of local residents and motorists are met when carrying out this work.
