Central Coast resident Hannah Venn-Brown has been nominated as a finalist in the 2024 Australian LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Awards in the Sally Webster Ally Award category.
She manages Services Australia’s HR Strategy team and is co-Chair of the agency’s Rainbow Roundtable and a very active LGBTIQA+ ally in her work and personal life.
Australian LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Awards were first held in 2011 and are based on the results of the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Submissions, which allows Australian organisations to benchmark their LGBTQIA+ inclusive policies and practice on an annual basis.
The event acknowledges and celebrates the organisations demonstrating foundational and progressive efforts toward making all workplaces inclusive for all.
It is produced by Pride in Diversity, a national not-for-profit diversity inclusion program spearheaded by Australia’s largest LGBTQIA+ health organisation ACON.
“I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to represent an organisation that doesn’t just recognise diversity, but truly celebrates it and to be recognised at a national level for this,” Venn-Brown said.
“I’m privileged to call myself a Services Australia employee and really value the part I get to play in increasing awareness and affecting real and genuine change for my LGBTQIA+ colleagues and our customers.”
Federal Member for Robertson Gordon Reid said the Central Coast was a “magnificently diverse, welcoming and supportive community”.
“We accept everyone, no matter who they are, or where they are from,” he said.
“It was an absolute pleasure meeting the remarkable Hannah, who has been nominated for this fabulous award.
“Hannah is a champion for LGBTQIA+ community members, and as an Ally, she supports all staff at Services Australia to reach their full potential, no matter their background.
“I congratulate Hannah on this nomination and wish her well at the 2024 Australian LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Awards.”
The 2024 Australian LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Awards will take place at the ICC Grand Ballroom in Sydney on May 31.
