The Avoca Beach Community Association (ABCA) has launched a new website.
The site, which can be found at www.avocabeach.org.au, replaces ABCA’s former website Friends of Avoca which has been taken down.
President Steve Fortey said the former website served the group well for many years.
“But the time has come to upgrade to a site with a fresher look and more functionality,” he said.
The website includes: a Local News Page, updated with regularly refreshed articles; an Events Page listing upcoming local events and activities; Membership Easy Access; a Community Directory listing local businesses, clubs and community groups; and current and past newsletters.
Fortey encouraged all Avoca Beach residents to join the Association and support the local community.
“Membership is only $20 a year or part of a year, less than many people spend on coffees in a week,” he said.
“It’s now quick and easy to get involved and join ABCA online via the site’s membership page – a few clicks and it’s done”.
ABCA committee member Wendy Coggins said the new Community Directory had been created to help Avoca residents find local businesses, community groups and clubs, and to help those businesses and clubs reach more customers or attract new members in the local community.
Avoca-based local businesses, clubs or community groups which are members of ABCA can advertise on the site at no cost.
The group expressed its gratitude to local photographer David Benson for permission to feature some of his beautiful photos of Avoca Beach on the site.
The Avoca Beach Community Association (ABCA) is a voluntary, not for profit organisation.
It has been in continual operation as a Progress Association, and then in its current form, since the 1940s, run entirely by volunteers from the local community.
