Central Coast Junior Rugby Union (CCJRU) has received $2,562 through the Federal Labor Government’s 2023/24 Volunteer Grants.
The sporting organisation plans to use the funding to support its volunteers in undertaking referee training.
Central Coast Junior Rugby Union President Gary Head said the organisation was looking to train more referees.
“Due to this grant funding we will be able to support (that),” he said.
“Our club has approximately 1,678 members across the Central Coast, so we are a significant sporting code.
“We also have 600 volunteers.
“This funding will also go towards resources that support players and the game.”
Federal Member for Robertson Gordon Reid said it was pleasing to know funding would support the training of more referees to support rugby union and clubs on the Central Coast.
“I look forward to continuing to support rugby union in the region,” he said.
