Saratoga parking spots are just too narrow

Federal Member for Robertson Gordon Reid says the narrowed parking spots are causing problems

Federal Member for Robertson Gordon Reid is on the warpath over parking conditions at the Saratoga Village shops.

Reid said recent changes to the width of car spaces at the shops were causing major problems for visitors trying to park and exit their vehicles.

“I have made urgent representations to Central Coast Council Administrator Rik Hart about car spaces being too narrow at the Saratoga Village shops,” Reid said.

“Council recently made the decision to change the width of the car spaces at a Local Traffic Committee meeting, to create an additional two car spaces.

“The changes have now been implemented and are causing inconvenience for the community, as the existing car space widths have been reduced.

“People living with a disability and families with children and prams, are struggling to exit their vehicles without damaging the adjacent vehicle.

“Central Coast Council needs to use commonsense when making decisions.

“Council has said they consulted the community, but when I spoke to anyone in the area, nobody seemed to be aware of any consultation.

“I will continue to advocate on behalf of our community until this matter is addressed,” Reid said.

Not just at Saratoga any upgraded car park on the central coast Fountain Plaza Erina as an example has reduced width sizing while being a courier in a van trying to get in and out is difficult let alone get freight out of side door whena trolley doesn’t fit between vehicles and trying not to knock or scratch other cars let alone people complaining parked too close

  3. dear dr reid,

I can assure you, people are not as concerned about shrinking car spaces outside the shopss as they are about increasing prices within them.

you should be advocating for more important things, like less wasteful spending and less handouts to reduce inflation.

eg a contributor to inflation was increased rents, which, shoch horror increased by the extra handouts. when will people learn that extra govt handouts only ever lead to increased prices and profits ( eg rents and child care)

  4. good on you ried .. see you are focussed on the big issues facing the central coast..
