Central Coast Rugby Union has entered into a three-year agreement to partner with the Wyong Leagues Group, which will become its major community sponsor.

CCRU President Tod Wills said the sponsorship was a genuine boost for grass roots rugby, providing much needed funding to support clubs across the Central Coast.

“It is particularly significant in this our 50th year that we can make this announcement,” he said.

“We have a proud history of providing high-quality competition for our 10 clubs as well as the opportunity to participate at all levels for more than 2,000 registered men, women, boys and girls, across the zone.

“To gain the support of a major organisation such as WLG is a testament to the health of the game here on the Coast.

“From this season, we are delighted to announce that our top competition will be known as the WLG Premier 1 Competition.”

WLG Sponsorship Manager Brock Molan said the group saw the partnership as a great opportunity to further demonstrate its commitment to the Central Coast community.

“The large number of active participants and the broad community exposure that the CCRU provides is evidenced by a solid track record over a long time,” he said.

“For quite a while we have had several direct sponsorship relationships with local rugby clubs and whilst these will continue, what this partnership provides is a broader partnership and commitment to the game itself at all levels.”
