To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus will return to its Ettalong venue with a multi-cultural line-up of female artists.
The global day acknowledges the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and is a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
Naughty Noodle Creative Director and previous NSW Woman of the Year finalist Glitta Supernova will present a show exploring resilience, empowerment and liberation through comedy, storytelling, burlesque, dance, cabaret and drag.
The full girl-power cabaret will feature Bollywood dancer, actor, and aerialist Bolly Golightly, absurdist comedians Hart and Low, Taimania the Polynesian princess and AFAB Queen Foxxe Faux.
There will also be a first-time empowering live storytelling performance from gold medalist Paralympian and Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch.
“This year’s International Woman’s Day theme is Inspire Inclusion,” Supernova said.
“When we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we forge a better world.
“And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.
“People in the art world want to think we are achieving parity more quickly than we are but we still have a long way to go.
“Women artists are systematically disadvantaged across cultural fields and the truth is that women have never been treated equally in the art world, and today they remain dramatically under-represented and under-valued across the music industry, theatre, museums and galleries.
“That’s why it’s so important to support and nurture female artists.
“It’s all about fun and self-expression at the Noodle and we strongly encourage dress-ups, so adorn yourself as your favourite Shero.”
The cabaret will be on Saturday, March 9, at the Naughty Noodle, 5 Broken Bay Rd, Ettalong.
