Forward planning for air show

An application has been lodged with Central Coast Council for Paul Bennet Airshows to continue staging the annual air show at Central Coast Airport at Warnervale for the next five years.

The next show is being planned for May 25 and 26 with an expected crowd of 15,000 over the two days.

It is to be a pedestrian-only event with no street parking other than limited on-site mobility only parking or parking for emergency vehicles.

Temporary parking areas will be on vacant land at 71-75 Howarth St and 115-145 Wahroonga Rd, Kanwal, with a shuttle bus running from train stations and other parking locations.

The air show includes aerial displays, aircraft displays, helicopter flights, children’s amusements, car show, food and market stalls, aviation stalls and defence force displays.

The DA/2327/2023 is on public exhibition at Council’s website.

More places for childcare

Bundilla Preschool at 6 Byron St, Wyong is seeking approval for renovations to the existing building to accommodate 21 more children aged up to three years old.

The centre is licensed for 29 children and has a long waiting list.

Plans for the childcare centre are available in DA/2376/2023 on Council’s website.

Council has also received applications for two new childcare centres to provide a total 199 spaces.

The biggest is for 132 children up to six years old which will be built on a vacant block at 8 Triandra Dr in the new Warner Industrial Park on the corner of Sparks Rd and Hue Hue Rd, Jilliby.

Another centre is being planned for Hamlyn Terrace with 67 places for children up to five years old.

The two-storey centre will be built over four lots at 144-146 Warnervale Rd, and 1-3 McEnery Cl, which are part of a recent 53-lot residential subdivision being built in three stages.

Both applications are open for public feedback on Council’s website – DA/32/2024 (Jilliby) and DA/2443/2023 (Hamlyn Terrace).

Increase in warehouse units

A new proposal has been lodged with Council to increase the number of industrial units from six to 23 at an already approved warehouse development.

Six large units were approved in 2018 on vacant land at 7 Sailford Pl in Somersby Industrial Park but now the owner wants to change that to a two-level building comprising 23 units.
