Two policemen charged over assault

Two serving police officers have been charged following an investigation into a 2020 assault incident on the Central Coast.

Officers from the Professional Standard Command established Strike Force Homburg to investigate an incident at a licensed premises on the Central Coast in December 2020.

Following extensive inquiries, two officers were issued court attendance notices on Tuesday, January  23.

A 49-year-old male senior constable, attached to a command in the Northern region, has been charged with common assault; and a 37-year-old male sergeant, attached to a specialist command, has been charged on two counts of common assault.

They are due to appear at Gosford Local Court on Thursday, March 7.

The employment status of both officers is under review.
