Tuggerah Lakes police say thanks

Tuggerah Lakes police have thanked the community for its support as the new year begins

As the new year begins, Tuggerah Lakes Police District has posted a message of thanks on its Facebook page to the Central Coast community for its ongoing support of local police.

“Together we continue to work together to support the vulnerable, disrupt and prevent crime” District Commander Superintendent Chad Gillies says in the post.

“Our police rely daily on your support to investigate crime and we have achieved some outstanding results and arrests through 2023.

“Tuggerah Lakes is a busy policing environment, but your police continue to work hard in the background to build community support through regular community engagement in the field and online.

“Your collective efforts in participating in these engagements are invaluable.

“We have made some significant impacts in engaging with our youth.

“Working in the preventive space to intervene early to help prevent some kids being lost in our criminal justice system remains a focus.

“Locally, we continue to do as much as we can to prevent and respond to reports of domestic and family violence and sexual violence.

“Identifying and arresting perpetrators of these offences remains a priority tasking for all police.”

The post says the police continued to partner with Central Coast Council via the Local Emergency Management Committee, fellow emergency services and supporting agencies to be well prepared in the emergency management area throughout 2023.

“The threats of bushfire, floods and recently the Varroa Mite response has been front and centre,” it says.

“On behalf of Tuggerah Lakes Police District, I wish you all a safe New Years and look forward to working with our community through 2024.”
