A number of people were stuck in a rip at Frazer Beach in the Munmorah State Conservation Area on Wednesday evening, December 27.
At about 7:50pm the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to the beach following reports of multiple people stuck in a rip.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed a number of people including a woman in her 40s, who required further treatment.
She was stabilised by the helicopter’s critical care medical team before being flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
The popular spot was the scene of a double fatality in February, after a man and a woman were pulled from the water unconscious on February 8.
Witnesses commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, but the two could not be revived.
This is what happens when inexperienced swimmers can’t read rips in the beach water. Also, inexperienced swimmers should only swim where there are lifesavers. I feel terribly sorry for their loved ones and family.
