Toukley RSL Sub-Branch will receive $10,000 towards the refurbishment of its cenotaph as part of the State Government’s $37.2M Local Small Commitments Allocation Program.
Member for Wyong David Harris said the grant was especially timely as the branch celebrated 75 years serving veterans with an anniversary event earlier this month.
“The cenotaph is a fitting memorial to those who have sacrificed so much in defence of our nation,” Harris said.
“The funds delivered as part of the Local Small Commitments Allocation program will deliver the final touches to what is widely regarded as the best cenotaph on the Central Coast.
“It currently has the ashes interred of 431 veterans from Toukley RSL Sub-Branch and the works will greatly add to the Dawn Service held each year on ANZAC Day.
“This is a fantastic outcome for Toukley RSL Sub-Branch and the people of Wyong electorate,” Harris said.
