Kariong firefighters to the rescue

Kariong fire trucks en route

Kariong Fire and Rescue vehicles P341A and P341B were quickly on the scene to rescue a truck driver at Somersby.

Just after 8:30pm on Sunday, November 5, the firefighters responded to reports of the truck alight on the M1 Motorway northbound at Somersby.

On arrival crews found a prime mover with the cabin well alight, however, the quick actions of firefighters managed to confine the fire to the cabin with no fire extension to the trailer or fuel tanks.

The BT341 Kariong fire truck also responded for water supply and together with local Rural Fire Service crews the truck fire was fully extinguished and clean-up once again cleared the freeway.
