Central Coast Council is set to acquire portions of two private parcels of land at Peats Ridge for road reserve.
The existing Council road formation encroaches on 71 and 93 Brieses Rd, Peats Ridge.
The unsealed gravel road provides access to rural properties, Brisbane Water National Park and electricity network infrastructure, with a small section of it recently identified as encroaching into the two properties at the eastern end of the road reserve.
The owners of both properties have been consulted by Council officers and support the land acquisition proposal put forward.
An option of removing the section of the encroaching road formation and relocating and reconstructing the road was investigated but rejected.
“The realignment would require the removal of a significant amount of vegetation, including mature trees, would be compromised by two existing electricity lines and associated infrastructure such as power poles and has an estimated design and construction cost of over $500,000,” a report to Council said.
“The preferred option is for Council to acquire the land from the private property owners, which enables the road formation to remain in its current location and preferred alignment which will result in the road being located wholly within the road reserve.
“No other operational works will be required for Council.”
The land involved comprises about 402sqm at 71 Brieses Rd and 308sqm at 93 Brieses Rd.
The owners have agreed verbally and in writing to ‘in principle’ agreement to the proposed part acquisition of their properties with negotiations on purchase price underway, taking into account the current market value as determined by an independent registered valuer.
