The Australian Reptile Park officially launched its 75th birthday weekend on September 29 with a VIP event.

Guests included Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch, Park owners Robyn and John Weigel and representatives of businesses which have supported the Park during its 75-year history.

The event included heartwarming speeches from Executive Director Tim Faulkner and a few special guests, lively music and a gigantic cake in the shape of the Park’s iconic dinosaur mascot, Ploddy, baked by Gosford’s own Cakes by Kyla.

“We’re so glad to be sharing this absolutely amazing milestone with such special guests that have ultimately shaped this Park into what it is today,” Faulkner said.

“We wouldn’t be here without you all.

“This truly is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as the ongoing support of our community.”

The Park’s most famous residents also joined in the celebration, enjoying their favourite treats from a specially crafted container shaped like the number 75.

Hugo and Estrella the Galapagos tortoises, along with a group of Indian Star and Leopard tortoises, koalas, and kangaroos enjoyed treats such as prickly pear, sweet potato, eucalyptus leaves and fresh fruit.

Celebrations continued over the long weekend, with live shows, animal meet and greets with zookeepers, stilt walkers, free face painting and a massive jumping castle.
