The Green Point Broadland’s Men’s Shed has celebrated its second year of operation and is set to expand, thanks to $7,030 in funding from the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
The money has been used to cover the costs of pouring a concrete slab as part of the extensions.
It also covered the cost of a computer to assist members with administrative tasks.
Member for Robertson Gordon Reid said the Broadlands Men’s Shed was an outstanding community organisation on the Central Coast.
“Men’s sheds play an integral part in the community and provide men with meaningful community work during retirement,” he said.
“They are also excellent organisations to bolster men’s mental health and wellbeing.
“I look forward to continuing to support all men’s sheds in Robertson and congratulate the movement on its 30th year of operating across Australia.”
The Stronger Communities Program provides not-for-profit organisations with grant funding of between $2,500 and $25,000.
