Locally-based performance group The Frantastics have taken out two major prizes at the Norfolk Island Theatre Festival that concluded on Sunday, October 1.
The Central Coast group won an adjudicator’s award for Best Ensemble and also the prize for Best Original Script.
The melodrama Pirate Paella, written by group director Fran Kendall, was performed to a very enthusiastic audience with the cast commended on costumes, timing, choreography and energy.
The cast comprised Roberta Boni, Pam Brown, Patricia Nissen and Ann Wilden.
“The actors surpassed expectations and never missed a beat,” Kendall said.
“The melodrama would not have gained such success without the talents of these four actors.
“Others adding their talents were Wendy Whiteman, Helen O’Shea, Bev Jones, Douglas Kent and Christine Bryant.
“All contributed to the high standard of the production and are looking forward to competing in next year’s festival.’”
