Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch is calling on the NSW Government to ensure a “shameful” $150M budget cut to palliative care does not affect the delivery of services on the Central Coast.

Crouch said he was deeply concerned that the Government’s cuts to palliative care funding would impact the delivery of services at Gosford Hospital, as well as the delivery of the new palliative care centre and staff at Wyong Hospital.

“Frankly, this move to cut funding to palliative care across the state by $150M is shameful and exhibits, once again, the wrong priorities of this government,” he said.

“The previous Coalition government recognised the importance of palliative care and the impact it has on terminally ill patients and their families, committing an extra $743M in funding for palliative care services in NSW.

“This included $13.6M to deliver a dedicated Palliative Care Unit at Wyong Hospital as well as delivering the Central Coast’s first Palliative Care Unit at Gosford Hospital in 2021.”

Crouch said that the Minns Government needs to guarantee that funding for the Palliative Care Unit at Gosford and the delivery of a dedicated Palliative Care Unit at Wyong Hospital will not be impacted.

“Any impact to services as a result of these cuts will be completely unacceptable to our community, and I’m calling on the Minns Government to guarantee these cuts won’t impact existing and future services,” he said.
