Tiny Tom had his second birthday last week but it was a bittersweet celebration as the day also marked his 500th day in care at the RSPCA NSW’s Central Coast Behaviour and Rehabilitation Centre at Somersby.
Nicknamed Tiny by staff, he came to the centre as a kitten and has blossomed into an affectionate, playful and adventurous companion.
The facility been operating as a rehabilitation oasis since October 2021 and has been able to create a calmer, more peaceful environment for its residents since minimising the activity of regular visitors.
The Behaviour and Rehabilitation Centre is unlike other RSPCA shelters as it is closed to the public.
The Centre’s dedicated team provide extra support for animals to ensure they have a successful transition into home life after arriving in shelter and most, like Tiny, just need help with their confidence.
“Tiny Tom’s journey is a testament to not only the resilience of our animals who come to us from tough circumstances but also to the dedication of our volunteers and staff who work hard to ensure each animal knows they are loved and cared for,” staff member Amber Logan-Jones said.
“We know there’s a special someone out there waiting to share their lives with Tiny Tom.
“We hope this celebration will help find them and that he can celebrate his next birthday in a loving home of his own.”
Tiny Tom would be best suited to a home without young children where he can be the only animal for now.
