A-League Championship winning forward Matheus Moresche is to part with the Central Coast Mariners to pursue other opportunities.
The 25-year-old leaves the club after two seasons, during which he played 37 matches and scored six goals including the Mariners’ sixth in the 2022/23 A-League Men’s Grand Final.
The striker appeared regularly for the club during his first season, before unfortunately tearing his ACL against Newcastle Jets in May 2022.
Nine months later he returned from injury, making his season debut against Perth Glory in February this year.
He played 11 matches during the 2022/23 season, winning the grand final in his final appearance.
Mariners Head Coach Nick Montgomery wished Moresche well and thanked him for his time with the club.
“After lengthy discussions with Moresche we felt that it was in everyone’s best interest that we mutually terminated his contract for him to pursue other opportunities,” Montgomery said.
“Unfortunately, his ACL injury took away a lot of his time here and it was important for him to get back to playing regularly.
“He will always be remembered for his goal in the grand final and we all wish him well for his future endeavours.”
Moresche thanked the club for the past two years and wished everyone the best for the future.
“I have loved the Central Coast and the time that I have spent here,” he said.
“A special thank you to the fans who have showed me and the team so much support.
“To win the championship and score in the grand final is something that I will always remember.
“I wish everyone at the Mariners the best for the future.”
