Big boost for women’s health centre

David Boardman presents the cheque to CCWHC CEO Theresa Mason

The Rotary Club of Gosford has raised more than $23,000 at its 23rd annual Razzamatazz show, staged recently over three performances at Niagara Park Stadium.

More than 1,400 children and families, many from disadvantaged backgrounds, came along to see the show, which was aimed at young children and featured magic tricks, acrobatics and music.

Organiser David Boardman said the principal beneficiary of the group’s major fundraiser was the Central Coast Community Women’s Health Centre (CCWHC), which received $22,812 to support the expansion and refurbishment of its base at Wyoming.

“With waiting lists sometimes out to several weeks, their service is a much-needed expansion in these difficult times,” he said.

“Also on the list of beneficiaries was the Riding for the Disabled facility at Somersby.

“It is difficult to describe the benefits of putting a disabled person up on a carefully supervised but very large animal.”

Rotary donated $2,000 for feed and care for Buddy, the group’s latest four-legged assistant.

The cheques were presented at Rotary’s end of year dinner, where members were entertained by soon-to-be Rotary exchange student Scarlett Eakins, who is about to set off on a very exciting year’s exchange to a a yet-to-be named foreign destination.

Members of Gosford Rotary thanked all their sponsors for support during the year.
