Police stepping up patrols on M1

Operation Hondo through May and June

Six police motorcycles will be patrolling the M1 as part of an ongoing high-visibility operation over the next couple of months.

NSW Police launched Operation Hondo on Sunday, May 14, to continue throughout May and June, focusing on reducing road fatalities and trauma.

Operation Hondo will specifically target the major factors contributing to road trauma – including speed, mobile phone use, drink and drug driving and dangerous driving behaviours such as tailgating, unsafe lane changing and vehicles not keeping to the left.

While the police motorcycles will predominantly patrol the M1 between Beresford and Wahroonga, they will be continuing the enforcement operation on local roads and nearby suburbs.

Officers will also continue regular daily tasks to ensure the safety of all motorists not just on the M1 but all surrounding roads.
