Massive surf forces closure of many local beaches

Big surf conditions at Killcare

Central Coast Council lifeguards have closed 10popular beaches across the Central Coast due to large swell and dangerous conditions.

The following beaches are closed: Copacabana Beach, Killcare Beach, Lakes Beach, North Avoca Beach, North Entrance Beach, Shelly Beach, Soldiers Beach, The Entrance Beach, Umina Beach and Wamberal Beach.

The Department of Fisheries has also strongly advised against anyone rock fishing during the large swell conditions.

Central Coast Council lifeguards patrol popular beaches during weekdays in the swimming season from September to April each year.

Council’s lifeguards and Surf Life Saving volunteers provide search and rescue services for our coastal beaches as well as emergency medical care when required. They also play an important role in educating swimmers and visitors on beach and water safety.
