The last home game of the regular ISUZU-UTE A-League season for the Central Coast Mariners will kick off at 5pm on Saturday, April 15, at Gosford’s Industree Group Stadium.
The match against league leaders Melbourne City will be a hard fought battle for the home team, currently sitting on a precarious third spot on the competition ladder.
The Mariners have yet again come on top of the league for developing young players.
Winning statistics released this week by Football Australia showed in the 2022/23 A-League season 18 players aged under 24 have taken to the pitch for the Mariners, well ahead of all other clubs.
The Mariners are counting on a good local crowd to help propel them into the highly competitive finals series.
Head coach Nick Montgomery urged local supporters to get to the ground and witness what will be a great football game.
“We’re going to give Melbourne City the respect they deserve, and hopefully we’ll get a good crowd as well,” he said.
“They are the biggest team in the comp by far.
“It’s always a special occasion and hopefully we’ll get the crowds coming out in force and we’ll create a really good atmosphere for the last home game… of the regular season.”
The game has been designated The Pink Round by the club as it raises funds for the NSW Cancer Council for women affected by cancer and Montgomery said the club hoped to see a lot of pink shirts in the ground.
Fans are being asked to participate by wearing something pink and/or buying the special edition pink players strip.
Gates open at 4pm. The big game kicks off at 5pm, with fans advised to arrive early as a big crowd is anticipated.
After the main match, the NPL game against Sydney Olympic will give football fans a chance to see the up-and-coming talent the Mariners have in the wings.
