Matteus Celestino MorescheChef Daniel cooks Chicken Stroganoff with Matteus Celestino Moresche of the Central Coast Mariners

Chef Daniel’s next guest on A Pinch of Salt is the young Brazilian striker for the Central Coast Mariners Matteus Moresche.

Moresche, aged 24 (whose full name is Matteus Celestino Moresche Rodrigues) moved to the Central Coast nearly 2 years ago to play for Mariners after playing football professionally in Singapore and Brazil.

He damaged his ACL in 2022 and after much rehabilitation.

After a two month trip back to Brazil for rest, Moresche is happy to be back on the Central Coast and played his first
game back with the Mariners this year (2023).

Chef Danile and Matteus Moresche

In this episode, Chef Daniel makes Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff with ‘no vegetables’, a preference of Moresche.

Moresche admits that he isn’t much of a cook, but with this simple recipe, he thinks he might even be able to impress his chef girlfriend and his mum one day. If he can do it, we can too!

½ large diced brown onion
8 cloves of garlic peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons tomato paste
300ml of cream
Tablespoon of vegetable/cooking oil

1 teaspoon lemon pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Add oil to the hot pan and fry the onion and garlic cook for 1 minute on high.
  2. Add chopped chicken and cook for a further 2 minutes on high.
  3. Add tomato paste and cook on high for a further 2 minutes.
