Man burnt in gas bottle explosion

Westpac Helicopter to the rescue

Just after 7pm on Australia Day, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to Point Clare, following reports of a gas bottle explosion with a man in his 80s suffering serious burns.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and emergency services attended the scene and commenced treatment of the man prior to the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team.

Due to the seriousness of the burns the man was place into a induced coma by the Critical Care Medical Team prior to being flown direct to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.
