Gold-medal Paralympian at Wyong Toastmasters

Liesl Tesch inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions

Special guest speaker at Wyong Toastmasters on Friday, February 3 will be Liesl Tesch who’s won a swag of medals over various Paralympic Games.

At 19 Tesch was injured in a mountain biking accident but went on to compete in five Paralympic Games with the Australian wheelchair basketball team, winning silver medals at Sydney in 2000 and at Athens in 2004, as well as a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games.

She then switched to parasailing, securing gold medals for Australia in the SKUD18 class at the 2012 London Paralympics and 2016 in Rio.

In 2017 Tesch entered politics and still retains the State seat of Gosford for the Labor Party.

Last year she was inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions in recognition of her remarkable career in parasports.

Visitors at the Wyong Toastmasters event, starting at 10.30am, will have an opportunity to hear about the life and times of this motivational speaker and chat to Tesch afterwards over coffee and cake.

It also will be a chance to meet other members and participate in fun games such as trivia, name that tune or radio daze, with a few surprises along the way.

Wyong Toastmasters meet on the first, third and fifth Friday of the month from 10.30am to 12.30pm at Wyong RSL Club, 15 Margaret St.

A Toastmasters meeting provides an opportunity and a supportive environment to improve public speaking, communication, and leadership skills to achieve personal and professional goals.
