Comedian turns the tables on mundane topics

Carl Barron appearing at The Art House

When Carl Barron was a small boy at school he asked the teacher how ants felt.

He never got an answer all those years ago but he still wants to know.

Voted number one comedian two years running, Barron’s new show called Skating Rink for Flies will ponder things we all think about but never mention – things like plastic bags, peanut butter and the possible emotions of an ant.

There is no point to this show other than to make the audience laugh as much as possible.

He’ll be at The Art House in Wyong on Tuesday, January 31, Wednesday, February 1, Thursday, February 2 and the weekend of February 4 and 5.

One reviewer says of Barron that “with a deadpan expression breaking out into gleaming wickedness, this skinny Gandhi-like comedian turns the tables on the mundane” through his observations of common experiences.

Since winning Comic of the Year and Best Up and Coming Talent in 1993, Barron has established himself as one of the most accomplished comedy performers in Australia and around the world.

This popular and gifted comedian has performed throughout Australia, New York, Los Angeles, London, South Africa, Auckland, Ireland, Singapore, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Edinburgh.

He has more than 50 TV spots to his credit and now has five of the top 10 selling DVDs ever in Australia, with his first DVD release, Carl Barron Live, being the country’s highest selling stand-up comedy DVD in Australian retail history.

Barron is one of the most sought after comedians worldwide, headlining at every major comedy venue and festival worldwide, and there are very few Australian comedians on the live scene who have received the same kudos as Barron.
