New Year’s Eve fireworks return to The Entrance

The last NYE event at The Entrance was held three years ago

For the first time in three years Central Coast Council will host a New Year’s Eve event with a spectacular program planned for Memorial Park at The Entrance on Saturday, December 31.

The huge family-friendly event, which includes amusement rides, live music, and of course fireworks will help attendees enjoy the final sunset of 2022.

Celebrations at the alcohol-free event start from 6pm with on-site food vendors cooking up a storm.

Music lovers will enjoy Piper Rodrigues, the Rebecca Johnson Band, and the headliners Hussy Hicks.

Rounding off the evening will be a dazzlingly display of fireworks from 9m.

Director Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith, said Memorial Park would make a beautiful background to celebrate the end of 2022.

Administrator Rik Hart said it was fantastic to see New Year’s Eve celebrations back in full swing after a few years of disruptions.

“We know our community love the fireworks display and having not had the opportunity for a few years, will be relishing the chance to get out and celebrate with their friends and family,” he said.

“The fireworks have been timed for 9pm so everyone can see them before heading home ahead of any midnight celebrations.

“I encourage our community to have fun and enjoy the celebrations safely.”

Due to the scale and popularity of the event temporary road closures will be in effect at The Entrance between 3pm and 11pm on New Year’s Eve.

These will include: Marine Pde between The Entrance Rd and the end of the car park; Coral St between The Entrance Rd and Duffy’s Lane; and The Entrance Rd between Fairview Ave and Marine Pde.

There will be partial road closures on Victoria Ave between The Entrance Rd and Torrens Ave.

The Marine Pde car park will remain open.

  1. So, the Wyong council take over is now complete. With the selling of the Gosford council chamber and The Entrance is now the main entertainment focus and the sole new years eve celebration of the Central Coast Council.

Moving almost everything to the Wyong area is really disadvantaging the peninsula and Gosford area. When activities are on at the libraries, almost all are in northern areas or places that are difficult to get to with public transport. Not fair or equitable.

  3. Not happy so the peninsula misses out again who can afford to drive from Umina/ woywoy / ettalong all the wat to the Entrance not only shafted on the rates now no fire works

  4. Re the above comment, the fireworks were not worth seeing this year – 9 minutes, no big exciting booms. I think the bad quality was part of a major price cut!!??

We arrived at The Entrance at 6.30pm, no place nearby to park. Big public car park was full already!! Nobody was monitoring the car park so cars went in and out aimlessly, fumes very strong, many people getting aggressive because there were no available spots.

As seniors we held our picnic chairs and walked about 20 minutes in and 20 minutes back after we finally found a spot to park on the outskirts of town.

The traffic was the worst I’ve ever seen. My son and family never made it into The Entrance for the fireworks and were stuck in their car with a crying 4 year old, not moving for at least 60 minutes.

I would like to know why this occurred. Bad planning? it felt dangerous at times. All for 9 mins of budget fireworks. Maybe better not to have them at all. I’m really seeing now that we are a POOR Council.
