New vehicle to help keep lifesavers rescue-ready

The new rescue support vehicle

Surf Life Saving Central Coast (SLSCC) has a new Isuzu MUX Support Vehicle, thanks to Central Coast Leagues Club.

Launched on November 24 at Copacabana Surf Life Saving Club, the new vehicle will ensure efficient rescue support for CCLSC’s Support Operations team to make sure it always rescue ready 24/7.

“This is a key element to our mission to have zero drownings along our coastline,” SLSCC Director of Life Saving Simon Cusack said.

“Our Support Operations Team rescues outside of the red and yellow flags or after hours and often in very remote and dangerous locations.

“In addition, they support our volunteer patrols in life threatening situations that may occur at any of our 15 patrolled beaches.

“These operators carry and are trained in all of the first aid equipment that are contained in the support vehicles.

“The new support vehicle means our support teams are safe and able to get to all locations, from the notorious Lake Munmorah National Park in the north to Umina in the south.

“This vehicle is equipped with all the latest technology and replacing a 2012 vehicle, which is a much-needed upgrade.”

Long-term community partner Central Coast Leagues Club has been supporting Surf Life Saving Central Coast for nearly 60 years.

“This partnership definitely has a huge impact on keeping our local and visiting community safe,” Cusack said.

“We are aiming again for another year of zero drownings between the red and yellow flags.”
