Big W has once again launched its Giving Tree initiative, with Erina Store Manager David Denzel urging customers to get on board to support those in need this festive season.
BIG W’s charity partner, Good360 Australia, has matched all 177 stores with a local charity, with Erina matched to We Care Connect.
“From now until Christmas Eve, our customers can donate a gift at the BIG W Erina store to support families in need and help spread joy for the festive season,” Denzel said.
“It’s important for retailers like BIG W to get involved with local charity partners to ensure regional communities get the support they need.
“The Central Coast community loves getting behind local charities and giving back, especially over Christmas time when it can be challenging for the most vulnerable members of our community.
“The Giving Tree allows us to give back and help share the magic of Christmas with families, whilst letting them know that they are not alone at this special time of year.”
Helen Barker of We Care Connect said the BIG W Giving Tree donations make an incredible contribution to the organisation’s Christmas appeal.
“We are anticipating we will be asked to support over 1,100 local children with gifts this Christmas,” she said.
“That’s 1,100 children who might wake up on Christmas day without a gift to open.
“So many families are doing it very tough at the moment, families struggling to put food on the table, pay for electricity, fill up the car, let alone the cost of Christmas
“The BIG W Giving Tree is a practical way that the local community can take action against childhood poverty and help another local family in their community who’s struggling.
“We are often asked what the best way to help is.
“We believe that the first step is taking direct action, and the gift of giving is a beautiful way to take part and help bring some Christmas joy to a disadvantaged child on the Central Coast.”
Customers can place unwrapped gifts under the Erina BIG W Giving Tree or purchase a Christmas Token from now until Christmas Eve.
